P&N Coal Company announced that it was awarded a
contract for watershed remediation of acid mine
drainage. This
two-year project is part of a cooperative approach by
the U.S. Corps of Engineers, the Bennet’s Branch
Watershed Association and the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania.
August,
2002
P&N Coal Company
announced that it has been certified as a HUBZone
company by the Small Business Administration.
John Prushnok, P&N’s President, said that
this is an important development for the company and the
community. “HUBZone
status is an important step for our Federal government
contracting business”, Prushnok stated.
“We plan to expand our Natural Resource and
Environmental Management businesses.
This helps to level the playing field for small
companies competing for government contracts and will
result in more jobs for the region.”

P&N Resources
announced that Tom Majcher has been appointed Contracts
Administrator. He
will be responsible for developing and expanding
contracting opportunities with
Federal, state and local government agencies.
John Prushnok, P&N’s President said “the
addition of Tom to our team is an important step in our
plans to develop a government contracting business.
Tom has more than 20 years of experience in
contracting, natural resources and environmental
industries. He
will be working to identify and secure new contracts
with various government agencies.”
Summer 2002
P&N Coal Company
received the Pennsylvania Coal Association 2002
Reclamation Award for outstanding reclamation of a
surface mining operation.
September, 2001
P&N
Coal Company has won national honors for mining and
reclaiming an abandoned site in Indiana County,
Pennsylvania. The
company received the U.S. Office of Surface Mining
Excellence in Surface Coal Mining Reclamation award
September 13 from Interior Secretary Gail Norton in
Washington, D.C. This
marks the third time P&N Coal has been awarded this
honor.
